I just wanted to say thank you for posting about the 1000 push up challenge and including non gym members. I haven’t been working out regularly this year, but this kick started my routines again. The first few days were definitely hard and because of my elbows I don’t want to risk doing anything more than pushups from my knees right now. I just did 35 nonstop which 2 weeks ago even doing 10 was painful. The leader board is keeping me accountable. I don’t really care what place I come in, but it is definitely motivating to see other people working just as hard. Anyway I just wanted to say thanks because I don’t get to see you regularly - I appreciate the challenge!

Record Your Push Ups
Why Push Ups?
Push-ups are a classic and highly beneficial exercise for several reasons:
Full Body Workout: Push-ups engage multiple muscle groups across the body, including the chest, shoulders, triceps, and the core, providing a balanced workout with a single movement.
Strength Building: Regularly performing push-ups helps in building strength in the upper body and core, enhancing your ability to perform various physical activities and daily tasks with ease.
Improves Posture: By strengthening the core, push-ups can help you maintain a better posture, which is particularly important for those who spend long hours sitting.
Enhances Cardiovascular System: Being a compound exercise that involves multiple muscle groups, push-ups can help raise your heart rate, benefiting your heart health and improving your cardiovascular system.
Flexibility: The stretching involved in push-ups can help improve the flexibility of the posterior muscle groups (shoulders, biceps, and chest). This stretching can help reduce the risk of muscle injury and improve overall mobility.
No Equipment Required: Push-ups can be done anywhere without the need for any equipment, making them a highly convenient and versatile exercise.
Variability: There are many variations of push-ups, each targeting different muscles or increasing the difficulty level. This allows for a progressive challenge as you get stronger, ensuring continual improvement and avoiding workout plateaus.
Bone Health: Weight-bearing exercises like push-ups can help in maintaining bone health and reducing the risk of osteoporosis by promoting bone density.
Mental Health Benefits: Exercise, including push-ups, releases endorphins, which are chemicals in the brain that act as natural painkillers and mood elevators. Regular physical activity can also reduce stress, anxiety, and symptoms of depression.
Cost-Effective: Since no equipment or gym membership is required, push-ups are a cost-effective way to maintain fitness.
Including push-ups in your exercise regimen can thus offer comprehensive benefits, from enhancing physical strength and flexibility to contributing to mental well-being. They are a fundamental exercise that can be adapted to suit fitness levels ranging from beginner to advanced, making them suitable for almost everyone.
