Squash, Smiles & a Medal to Kick Off the Season
Lakeshore Squash Inter-Club Friendly — Event Recap
Sunday’s road trip to Centre-Wellington Racquets in Elora was the perfect way to launch the 2025-26 squash season. Fifteen Lakeshore players made the trip and left with new friends, great memories — and in one case, a shiny medal.
While tons of friendly matches were happening on the courts in Elora, Lakeshore player Chris Herbert was representing the club at the Ontario Championships, returning home with a silver medal after a nail-biter of a final. Up 2–0 before his young opponent Oscar (a mere 48 years younger) tightened his lines and brought the comeback of the day. A great match — and a rematch is already on the wish list.
Back in Elora, Lakeshore players of all levels took on Centre-Wellington in spirited matches, backed by an enthusiastic group of families and friends watching from the lounge.
Our hosts Sheila, Rob and Squash Pro Leah Desbarres made it a fantastic experience — capped off with delicious pizza and post-match socializing.
We also got an early look at CW’s upcoming November 14–16 tournament, and excitement is already high for a strong Lakeshore return. Register here.
Highlights
✅ Competitive but supportive matches across all levels
✅ New squash friendships and future matchups already brewing
✅ Great food, great host club, great day all around
✅ A silver medal to set the tone for the season
Huge Thanks
Thank you to Centre-Wellington Racquets for the hospitality — we can’t wait to host you in Port Elgin soon. And thank you to Sheila Proteau and Robert Lompart for making this happen and everyone who played, drove, and cheered.
This is what community squash is all about.
More road trips and tournaments are coming — stay tuned, and keep those racquets warm!
