If you’ve ever taken a class with Liz at Lakeshore Recreation, you know she brings more than just energy—she brings knowledge, experience, and a genuine passion for helping people discover their strength.


With a degree in kinesiology, Liz didn’t just stumble into fitness instruction; she chose it as a way to share the science of movement while motivating others to reach beyond what they think is possible.

"Everybody's stronger than what they think. It’s seeing that light, that excitement when someone finally realizes, ‘I can do this.’

Her background in kinesiology informs every aspect of her teaching. Whether guiding a new participant who’s never stepped into a gym before or working with someone recovering from an injury, Liz knows how to modify exercises to meet individual needs.


"Maybe they have injuries, maybe they have some limitations. But if we modify the program so it’s something they can physically do, that spark happens, and they come back again."

The Liz Touch: Signature Style

Every instructor brings something unique to the floor, and Liz has what she calls the “Liz Touch.”


She combines knowledge of biomechanics, focus on proper form, and engaging music to create a motivating, safe, and fun environment.


"I’m picky about form. But it’s about safety first. If you want to change your muscles and gain strength, you might as well do it properly."

Her classes are designed for all levels. Whether you’re recovering from surgery, just starting your fitness journey, or a seasoned gym-goer, Liz ensures everyone can participate, choose their intensity, and feel empowered.


Muscle Cardio: Variety, Challenge, and Fun

Liz’s signature Muscle Cardio class is a 45-minute mix of strength and cardio. But here’s the catch—no two weeks are exactly the same. Some weeks, cardio may dominate; other weeks, strength work takes center stage. This variety keeps both the body and mind engaged, preventing plateaus and encouraging continued progress.


"Every week gets something different," she explains. "Brains can never really know what’s going on. You need that variety. If you do the same, you stay the same."

Muscle Cardio isn’t just about challenging workouts; it’s about choice, empowerment, and

having fun. Participants are encouraged to listen to their bodies, select weights or intensity that suit them, and enjoy the camaraderie of a supportive group.


"It’s all about making it part of your regular routine, so you can challenge your limits but still come back again."

Join Liz for Muscle Cardio on Wednesdays at 9:15 AM and experience her motivating,

team-spirited energy firsthand.


Spin Classes with a Beat

Liz also leads engaging spin classes that combine cardiovascular training with music-driven motivation. Her approach focuses on letting each rider control their speed and resistance while guiding them through a variety of drills—from climbs and sprints to rolling hills and Tabata-style intervals.


"Spin is low-impact, great for the joints, but you get a full cardiovascular workout," she explains. You choose your tension, your speed, but I guide you through the drills and energy of the class."

The music isn’t just background—it’s an integral part of the ride. Liz curates playlists that match the intensity of each drill, whether it’s a high-energy sprint or a steady climb. One memorable theme day featured a playlist entirely by The Weeknd, blending rhythm and energy to keep participants engaged and motivated.


"Sometimes the hardest part is just getting in the door. You don’t have to be fit to start. You just have to walk in with an open mind and want to try it."
