Gord Mackay
owner/general manager
In 1980 Gord decided that the area needed a fitness and banquet facility built. Lakeshore Recreation opened it's doors in 1983. Born and raised in Port Elgin,he was a Dentist for over 40 years before recently retiring. Gord remains committed to being an active member of our community.

mary-lynn jacob

Mary-Lyn and her husband Trevor retired and moved up to Port Elgin, from Whitby, in December of 2020 to be closer to family. Mary-Lyn loves all the walking trails and is getting reacquainted with cross country skiing. She has worked in customer service for almost 30 years and enjoys interacting with the members.

PERI ONGARATO
Client services representative
Peri used to live in Port Elgin from 1982 - 1998 and was active at Lakeshore Recreation. She then moved to Bowmanville to work at OPG Darlington in Work Management. Peri and her husband Tom have retired and moved back to the area as of May 2020 to be closer to family and enjoy all that the area has to offer.

Sara is a grade 12 student at Saugeen District Senior School here in Port Elgin. When Sara is not working or completing schoolwork, she enjoys running, swimming, and volunteering throughout the community. She loves the facility and is excited to be a part of the Lakeshore family!

Client Services Representative
Louise and her husband Doug are long time residents of Port Elgin. In the early years of Lakeshore, Louise participated in many classes and looks forward to getting back indoors to workout. Walking this areas beautiful trails is a favourite pasttime. Louise has many years of customer service experience working the front desk of the Colonial Motel.

Brooke dufton

Brooke is a grade 12 student at Saugeen District Secondary School and is one of our newest receptionists at Lakeshore. She is an avid hockey player and plays for the Saugeen Shores Storm.

Megan Munro
client services representative
Megan and her family arrived to the Port Elgin area in 2021 from Saskatchewan. They are enjoying everything that the area has to offer. They like exploring new places around Bruce County, including many great walking trails and the beaches for swimming. Her fitness journey brought Megan to Lakeshore Recreation where she joined the Reception team.

Judy Freiburger
book keeper
Judy has been working at Lakeshore Recreation since December 2011. Her interests include scuba diving, curling, photography and travel. She and her husband Doug have owned Groundhog Divers since 1991 teaching people in Bruce, Grey and Huron counties how to scuba dive. Judy sits on the Finance Committee of St. Joseph Parish and whenever possible, spoils her grandchildren.
