KAREN FEHR
Director of Fitness, Certified Personal Trainer
CFP PTS, BA, B ED

 

Although originally from the area Karen taught overseas for over 10 years and worked at an International Medical Recruitment company in Toronto for 7 years.  She has combined her teaching and business skills with her passion for physical fitness.  She has a versatile approach to personal training which will help to ensure every program is effective and tailored to each individual’s specific requirements.  Karen’s clientele includes beginners and athletes, people wanting to gain strength, rehab an injury or lose weight.  She believes that making positive & realistic lifestyle changes will endure and improve quality of life.   Karen promotes a balanced and sustainable lifestyle.  She is passionate about helping others and remaining current in an industry that is constantly changing.

Educated in Hotel & Restaurant Management from Georgian College Lori brought her passion for the restaurant industry to Port Elgin in 1994 as one of the owners/operators of Jangles Pub & Eatery.  Since closing the restaurant in 2010 Lori has continued to pursue employment in the service industry, expanding her experiences and knowledge.  For over 20 years now Lori, her husband Steve and two children Austin and Kayla have made Port Elgin home.  Her understanding and knowledge of the service industry will ensure your experience at Lakeshore will be a positive one.

As Owner/Manager of Lakeshore Recreation Center Ann is active teaching fitness classes and encouraging everyone to live a healthy and fit lifestyle. Ann strives to provide the best variety of fitness options so that Lakeshore Recreation is the place that people want to be.

Gord Mackay
owner/manager 

In 1980 Gord decided that the area needed a fitness and banquet facility built. Lakeshore Recreation opened it's doors in 1983. Born and raised in Port Elgin, and now in his 40th year as a local dentist, Gord remains committed to being an active member of our community. 

 

Kim Paulin

Client Services Representative

 

Kim is originally from the Bowmanville area where she helped manage their family owned dance studio.  In 2002 her husband and three children moved to Port Elgin. Lakeshore Recreation was one of their first stops.  She has been a member or staff member ever since. Kim enjoys using the gym and attending step classes.

Emily Gibbons, formally known as Emily Paulin, has lived in the Port Elgin area since a young age. She is a Humber College alumni and was a apart of the varsity Humber hype dance team. Emily has 10 years experience in the customer service field from working in multiple locations in the Grey and Bruce area.  She has a strong passion for dance and loves going for walks with her husband and dog Hazel. Emily is very excited to bring her outgoing personality and creativity to Lakeshore and meeting all the members

Emma is going into her 3rd year at Saugeen District Secondary School as a grade 11 student. When Emma is not working or doing school work she loves to play soccer and volleyball, along with spending time with her family and friends. Her favorite part about working at Lakeshore is the friendly staff and members!

Chloe is a grade 12 student at Saugeen District Secondary School.  After many years of visiting family and enjoying the beach, Chloe and her family moved to Port Elgin in 2017 from Sudbury. Between school and work you can find Chloe spending time with friends and family, enjoying the outdoors, or playing sports!

 

 

 

Carla Dunlop

Client Services Representative

 

Carla is a lifelong resident of the Saugeen Shores area.  She was one of the two original receptionists hired by Lakeshore Recreation when it first opened.  After the birth of her daughter, she opted to stay at home for a few years and then opened a clothing business with her sister-in-law in downtown Port Elgin.  She then studied and obtained her Certified Financial Planners designation and accepted a position with Investors Group.  She retired in January of 2014 but decided she missed being around people, so here she is again!  Carla loves taking her dog for long walks and enjoys spin classes, reading and cooking.

Louise and her husband Doug are long time residents of Port Elgin.  In the early years of Lakeshore, Louise participated in many classes and looks forward to getting back indoors to workout.  Walking this areas beautiful trails is a favourite pasttime.  Louise has many years of customer service experience working the front desk of the Colonial Motel.

Sherrie Casemore

Kid's Room Staff

Sherrie is entering her 7th year at Lakeshore as our Kids Room sitter. Our members have been bringing their little stars for many years now. For Sherri, it's rewarding to be a small part of their growing horizons. Some people think Sherri lives here (shh!) Outside of her sitting duties here, Sherri enjoys taking long walks, experimenting in the kitchen and gardening. "Take one day at a time, always expand your horizon, and just love".

 

Catherine Corbett

Kid's Room Staff

Cathy has lived in Port Elgin for 39 years.  She worked at Zehrs for 28 years until she retired in 2015. Retiring has allowed her to spend more time with her grandchildren.  She has a 15 year old grandson who lives nearby and two little ones over three hours away.  This job allows her to enjoy the little ones that come to Lakeshore Recreation and is flexible enough so she can travel to visit her own.

 

 

 

Judy Freiburger

book keeper

Judy has been working at Lakeshore Recreation since December 2011.  Her interests include scuba diving, curling, photography and travel. She and her husband Doug have owned Groundhog Divers since 1991 teaching people in Bruce, Grey and Huron counties how to scuba dive.  Judy sits on the Finance Committee of St. Joseph Parish and whenever possible, spoils her grandchildren.
