Squash & racquetball   

 

Our facility has 2 indoor squash courts, and 1 indoor racquetball court.  There are also two viewing courts.  
*Court rental for adults is $11.00 (tax inclusive) This is a DAY PASS and also includes use of the locker room, weight room and classes.
*Court rental for a family is $16 + HST /hour.
Membership options are also available. For your convenience we have racquets, balls and goggles available for rent. Book your court today!

   

COURT BOOKING POLICY:

1.  Courts may be reserved anytime 24 hours ahead of time.

2.  Only one court may be reserved and played on per two people. 

3.  No back to back bookings giving the same 2 people 2 hours of court time

4.  Only one court per day can be booked per phone call or in person.

5.  The player must give their full name and phone # to the reception staff at the time of booking. 

6.   If you are unable to use your booked time please cancel to open the time for other players

7.  Court times are forfeited after 15 minutes if you do not show up for your reservation

8.  If the court is not booked before or after your reserved time within one hour of your playing, a double court time may be booked.

GROUP CLASSES   

 

Lakeshore Recreation offers a range of fitness classes.  We encourage all levels of fitness to join us.  We provide modifications and exercise options so that everyone can get a great workout.

BRIAN'S BOOTCAMP:  This is the ultimate workout to get it done! This full body strength and conditioning workout increases your metabolism so you'll continue to burn calories long after you've hit the showers.  The program will be new each session and the exercises can be modified to fit your fitness level.  Brian will guide you through your workout, ensuring you make the most of each and every session.  This workout will help to increase your energy level, decrease body fat, gain strength and lose inches.

HIRT:  Strength training for fat loss.  You’ll perform a series of strength training exercises for a set number of reps  for a set number of minutes without rest. 

 

LITE FIT:  This is a low impact class that is tailored to your body’s needs. Classes will include the following components of fitness: cardiorespiratory exercise, range of motion, endurance, functional training, muscle strength, balance and flexibility. The instructors will provide many options for all fitness levels.  The coffee social afterwards is a great reward!

 

LIGHTER FIT: This class is designed to improve strength, balance and flexibility, regardless of current physical ability.  The exercises will be gentle and low impact, using a variety of equipment including a chair, light weights, bands, etc.  This class is ideal for seniors, beginners to exercise and individuals with mobility issues.  We have an elevator for those who cannot use the stairs. 

 

MUSCLE MANIA Build strength, add definition, increase bone density and decrease body fat by INCREASING lean muscle. Research has proven that by adding lean muscle to the body you can speed up your metabolism and burn more calories working out and at rest. Use a variety of weight training equipment to change the shape of your body - no muscle gets neglected!

PILATES: Mat pilates exercises are performed in a slow, controlled, precise manner and require an intense concentration. These exercises help strengthen the body's core by developing pelvic and scapula stability, and abdominal control, using focused breathing patterns. The main fitness goals of a mat pilates program include improved flexibility, muscle tone, body balance, spinal support, low back health, sports performance, and body-mind awareness. Equipment such as a pilates ring, resistance band, or weighted balls may be used.

 

POWER CIRCUITS: Total body workout circuit style.  This class offers stations of cardio, strength, plyometric and core training.  There will also be a TABATA challenge after each circuit round.  Maximize calorie burn with total body training.

 

SCULPT FIT: Long, lean muscle strengthening using equipment and your own body weight. Learn to focus on your posture, core stability &

flexibility.  This is a low impact class.

SPIN:  These classes provide an intense cardio workout while still catering to participants of all fitness levels.  Our instructors will lead you through a series of drills to maximize your caloric burn.  The best part is that you control your own resistance and speed allowing you to continuously progress forward from your current fitness level.

TABATA: Make the most of your time with these intense exercises that are short in duration, but very effective. Through a variety of simple, yet intense timed exercises, each class will blast the calories and provide noticeable results in a short amount of time.  Whether your goal is muscle tone, weight loss or both, this class will provide what you are looking for. 

 

YOGA: Create a balance in your body through strength and flexibility work done by creating poses and/or postures done quickly in succession or slowly and more controlled.

Ann MacKay - Certified Personal Trainer, Indoor Group Cycle Certified, fluid strength certified, CFP PTS

Ann has always enjoyed being active.  Her parents philosophy was to expose their children to as many sports and experiences as possible knowing that as adults they would continue with those they enjoyed.  Skiing, tennis, pickleball and grandchildren are things she loves.  While overseeing Lakeshore Recreation as the owner/general manager, Ann has been teaching fitness classes for over 35 years.  Her belief is that any form of movement is beneficial to our quality of life.

 

 

KAREN FEHR - Director of Fitness, Certified Personal Trainer, fluid strength certified, CFP PTS, BA, B ED

 

Although originally from the area Karen taught overseas for over 10 years and worked at an International Medical Recruitment company in Toronto for 7 years.  She has combined her teaching and business skills with her passion for physical fitness.  She has a versatile approach to personal training which will help to ensure every program is effective and tailored to each individual’s specific requirements.  Karen’s clientele includes beginners and athletes, people wanting to gain strength, rehab an injury or lose weight.  She believes that making positive & realistic lifestyle changes will endure and improve quality of life.   Karen promotes a balanced and sustainable lifestyle.  She is passionate about helping others and remaining current in an industry that is constantly changing.

 

 

JEN DUNBAR - Certified Personal Trainer, Indoor Group Cycle Certified, Certified Nutrition & Wellness SpecialistCFP PTS, CFP NWS    

 

Jen has over 9 years of experience in the fitness industry. Jen believes in success, not perfection. Functional training built on the foundation of solid nutrition means that all ages and fitness levels can reach their goals. Your age doesn’t matter but your attitude does!! As a certified personal trainer and certified nutrition specialist, she uses a hands on approach to find out what you want and delivers the most efficient way to get you there.  When she’s not in the gym she can be found on her road bike.  Jen teaches a variety of classes including Lite Fit, Piyo and FIRE (Functional, Interval & Resistance Exercises),Tabata and Lite Fit.

 

Mandy kent - Certified Personal Trainer, Run-Fit Specialist, CFP PTS, B.P.E.

 

Mandy has been teaching fitness classes at Lakeshore since 2006.  Her classes are known to focus on strength, balance, flexibility, and posture.  Participants are motivated to use good technique as it is key to safe, effective results.  As a certified Run-Fit Instructor and year round running enthusiast, Mandy encourages people to discover their own love of running.  Currently she teaches the twice weekly, Sculpt Fit class and guest instructs Lite Fit.

 

Jeff Virgo - Certified Personal Trainer, Indoor Group Cycle Certified, CFP PTS      
 

Jeff Virgo served 5 years in the Canadian Armed forces with the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry (PPCLI). While on duty Jeff suffered spinal cord injury (SCI) resulting in paralysis from the waist down. With extensive rehabilitation & hard work Jeff regain the ability to walk again. He has enjoyed many experiences post injury from being one of the Torch Barriers for the Parapan American Games in Toronto, completing in two Invictus Games (UK in 2014 and Orlando in 2016) for wounded warriors of allied nations, as well has raced in sprint kayak over the last 3 years. Jeff has also work with youth as Program Manager at multi sports camp in Quebec, from coaching soccer and being advocate for accessibility & being active.  As a fitness instructor & personal trainer at Lakeshore Recreation his persistence, positive attitude and sense of humour have made him popular with other members.  Jeff is very active with youth soccer in Saugeen Shores as a coach and member of the executive.  This fall Jeff will be in Toronto for the 3rd Invictus Games as Ambassador& Supporter of the games.

 

 

Val Morano- Certified Fitness Instructor, Piloxing Certified, CFP FIS

 

Val has been a member of Lakeshore for over 12 years and an instructor for 3 years. 
She is a very social person and loves group fitness. She is a slave to the beat and loves good choreography and music to dance to.   Val loves to participate in the coffee socials after class and before she has to leave for her 'other' job as a Speech Pathologist, which she has done for 20 years. She enjoys playing team sports like hockey and baseball. Val currently teaches Lite Fit.

 

 

 

Bill Buckton - Indoor Group Cycle Certified, BSc, NCCP Hockey Instructor

 

Bill Buckton is an all-around athlete, Coach and Instructor.  He played NCAA and professional hockey, coached various levels of hockey for 25 years, and was a certified tennis & squash instructor.  Bill has been an avid cyclist for over 20 years, specializing in road bikes and road bike performance.  He has cycled mountains in Southern Spain, Hawaii, Colorado, the Hilly Hundred challenge in Wisconsin, and captured the bronze medal for his age division in the Horseshoe Valley Centurion.  Bill is a member of the Saugeen Shores Cycling Club.  He was one of the original members of Lakeshore Recreation when it opened in 1983.   Bill teaches several Spin Classes.

Jenny Scongack - Certified yoga Instructor


Jenny was born and raised in Southampton eventually moving away to attend school in London, ON. There she started her career as a crisis counselor for women and children. Realizing there is no place like Saugeen Shores, she accepted a position with the local school board and moved back to the area where she worked as an EA for almost 15 years. When Jenny began practicing yoga she quickly learned that it is much more than just physical postures on a mat. It is a way of life, a way to connect the mind, body and soul in achieving health and over all well-being.
After completing her 300 hour Yoga Teacher Training in 2019, Jenny now dedicates her time teaching yoga, volunteering with the Pediatric Oncology Group of Ontario, practicing self-care as a member of Lakeshore Recreation and spending time with her daughter, husband, family and friends.

brian currie - Certified Personal trainer, strength & conditioning coach-NSca, fitness & health promotion

Brian has spent the last 7 years working in the fitness industry after years of travelling and working in the entertainment industry.  He has worked as a Personal Trainer for various fitness clubs including a Coach at Fit Body Boot Camp.  Originally from the area, he has settled back in Saugeen Shores and has taken a position with Supreme Pharmaceuticals / 7 Acres. His goal as a trainer/coach is to not only help people find the physical strength and fitness in themselves, but as well their mental strength and confidence. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Mark Rosner - Indoor Group Cycle Certified

 

Mark has been a member of Lakeshore Recreation for over 20 years. 
He is known for his quick wit and motivating style. Mark’s TOP 40 SPIN features a playlist of current Top 40 songs and lasts just over 40 minutes. It is suitable for all levels of participants.  Mark teaches from November - May. During the summer months he can be found on the golf course.

 

 

 

Lorraine Salisbury -  Certified Personal Trainer & Fitness Instructor, Indoor Group Cycle Certified CFP PTS, CFP FIS

 

Lorraine has been a certified fitness instructor/personal trainer for 24 yrs. She has instructed classes of all types and fitness levels.  Lorraine joined the Lakeshore Team in 2004. She is known for her quick wit and quick moves! Lorraine loves instructing so much she recently stated "I'll be teaching here with my walker someday".  Lorraine teaches Spin and Yoga and as one of our most versatile instructors, can sub in for any class.

 

 

Deborah Jennings - Certified Fitness & Yoga Instructor, CFP FIS

 

Deborah, recently retired from Bruce Power and currently licensed as a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) has instructed classes for over 10 years and has a keen interest in yoga. Other interests include tap dancing, country line dancing, golfing, and walking. Deb currently covers classes for us in the summer months as she spends her winters in Florida.

 

 

 

ANGELA ZWAMBAG  - FITNESS INSTRUCTOR

Angela Zwambag is an individual who embodies everything about living a healthy lifestyle. She is passionate about fitness and healthy eating.  Angela taught a number of classes at GoodLife Fitness, loves trail running and lifting weights. Her desire to learn more about proper nutrition came when she realized that her nutritional habits were part of the root cause of her joint pain and inflammation.  In 2011 she obtained her Registered Holistic Nutritionist (RHN) degree from the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition in London, Ontario. She has since worked in health food stores and fitness facilities teaching classes and assisting individuals with their nutritional needs. Angela currently teaches a class called Power Circuits.

JESSICA KENNETT  - FITNESS INSTRUCTOR

Jessica has been practicing yoga for 10 years and has undergone physical and mental transformations through her practice. Jessica’s passion for yoga inspired her to complete her 200hr intensive Vinyasa yoga training in Costa Rica in 2014. She soon after graduated from The Institute of Holistic Nutrition in Toronto, expanding her knowledge in health and wellness. Jessica views yoga as a moving meditation, flowing through breath and movement. A tool with which individuals can reconnect with their body, quiet their mind, and to attain balance, strength, and flexibility. Jessica blends dynamic movement with inner stillness, leading students through quickly flowing postures, guided by the breath. Join her for a light-hearted practice, finding humor, being playful, and finding balance with your mind, body and spirit. 

 

WEIGHT ROOM    

 

Our weight room covers all of the equipment you will need to get a good workout in! We have free weights and a good variety of fitness machines available. Our Personal Trainers can help you get into the best shape of your life and show you how to utilize the gym to the best potential. Come and see us for a tour of our facility. 

Children:

Children 12-16 are permitted in the weight room but must have an introduction to the gym given by a trainer for safety which will include gym etiquette.

Children under the age of 8 are not permitted in the weight room at any time. 

Children 8-11 are permitted to use the racquetball courts but in the weight room & whirlpool they must be closely supervised by a parent/guardian.

Children 4-11 are not permitted in the whirlpool or sauna without adult supervision.

Children under the age of 4 are not permitted in the whirlpool or sauna at any time.
